About

What is this?

An unofficial fan-built tracker for yellow cards, red cards, and second-yellow reds issued at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and pre-tournament friendlies involving all 48 qualified nations. Not affiliated with FIFA or any official body.

Card Types

Yellow card — a caution. Two yellow cards in the same match result in a dismissal (shown as a second yellow, below).

Second yellow / red — a second yellow card in the same match, resulting in dismissal. Counted separately from straight reds because the disciplinary context is different.

Red card — a straight dismissal for serious foul play, violent conduct, or denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

Category Tags

Certain card offences are flagged with a category tag on a player's card tile. Tags are assigned based on the foul reason reported by the API and persist for the whole tournament — a player tagged for violent conduct in a group-stage match keeps that tag through the final.

V
Violent conduct

Player received a card for violent conduct — including serious foul play, rough play, headbutts, elbows, stamps, or spitting.

S
Simulation / diving

Player received a card for simulation or attempting to deceive the referee — commonly known as diving.

B
Previously banned

Player served a match suspension during this tournament and has since returned.

Player Ranking

Players are ranked by a severity score based on FIFA's official fair play conduct scale:

1 pt
Yellow
3 pts
2nd Yellow
4 pts
Direct Red
5 pts
Yellow + Red

A second yellow counts as 3 points total because the first yellow (1 pt) is also recorded. A player who receives both a yellow and a straight red in the same match accumulates 5 points. When scores are equal, the following tiebreaker chain is applied in order:

  1. Severity score (higher wins)
  2. Total card count (more cards wins)
  3. Straight red cards (more reds wins)
  4. Second yellow / reds (more 2nd yellows wins)
  5. Yellow cards (more yellows wins)

Suspensions

The Suspensions page tracks two categories of players:

  • Suspended — players banned for their next match. This applies to any player who received a straight red, a second yellow red, or accumulated two yellow cards across separate group-stage matches.
  • Suspension Watch — players one yellow card away from a suspension. During the group stage, any player with one yellow card will be suspended for their next match if cautioned again.

Yellow card accumulation resets after the group stage. During the knockout rounds, a separate yellow count applies through the quarter-finals, then resets again before the semi-finals. The dashboard card shows only currently suspended players.

Pre-Tournament Friendlies

Cards issued in pre-tournament friendlies between qualified nations are tracked alongside World Cup matches. These do not carry over into official tournament discipline but give useful context on player and referee tendencies heading into the competition. Friendly cards are labelled and can be filtered separately throughout the site.

VAR

VAR decisions made during a match are listed on each referee's detail page. These include goal cancellations, penalty decisions, and card reviews where the data is available. VAR event data is sourced from API-Football, which does not officially document all types of VAR interventions — card-related decisions in particular are not always reported. As a result, the VAR log on a referee's page reflects what the API provides and may not capture every incident.

Data

Card data is sourced from API-Football and synced automatically throughout the tournament. There may be a short lag between real-world events and what appears here. Occasionally the API reports a single dismissal as multiple card events (e.g. both a yellow and a red for the same incident). The site deduplicates these automatically so each dismissal counts as one event.
